Since I have been shunned by the muses of creativity today, I'll post some photos I took back in the first part of November. Dedicated to Blue-eyed Tantra, whose favorite color is, unsurprisingly, blue (more accurately, all of the colors of the Tantra-palette are his favorites).
jd has blue eyes. i drew a picture of a windigo and gave him blue eyes too. is tantra a windigo, perhaps? an eternally hunry flesh-eating wind-demon who can kill with a single glance, who has huge fangs and claws? 'tis a good occupation for november, i believe. and i also strongly believe that the windigo have blue eyes. they are monsters of night and darkness, after all. i drew my picture in such a way as to deliberately make my windigo look cuddly.
I remember the windigo. I was terrified of it, so terrified! From that book of urban legends we had. Yikes, it still gives me the shivers. I was so terrified that I'd turn into a windigo.
Wow, I had never heard of a windigo, but November is The month to turn into one. Do they come out of the clear, piercing blue skies when the winds are literally howling through the bare tree branches?
I first encoungered the windigo in this book, Southern Fried Rat (now out of print). It was quite scary for an 8-year-old. The windigo is a Native American (Algonquian) legend (this article has some interesting info).
Do you remember Southern Fried Rat, qin ai de Foxy? We must still have it somewhere. It had other really scary stories, too. It was written for high school age, so it couldn't have been that bad, but it was terrifying to me. Especially the windigo. Do share your JD windigo, please.
