Sir Orion is the Miao Brothers' new nephew. Foxy-bro adopted him on 19 June from a crazy cat lady (literally crazy, by all accounts). I figure that he's our nephew because Foxy is our brother. I can't quite explain his name (I'm sure Foxy could), but Featherstonehaugh (pronounced "fanshaw") was one of my favorite names when I was so little because it is so long (yet so short).
According to my brother, Sir Orion is "rather talkative and he likes to play a hybrid of marco-polo and hide-and-seek". He also enjoys hunting and eating button squash (and bananas too, though I guess they aren't as fun to hunt). In fact, he's quite fond of fruit and he always picks out the fruit bits in his kitty crunchies first (he eats Castor & Pollux kitty food). He enjoys being carried around by his scruff, and since he's a relation of the Miao Brothers, I can assume that he also enjoys catnaps and fleece blankies.
I'm not sure how old Sir Orion was when my brother got him, or when his actual birfday is. I haven't met him yet, but I got to talk to him on the phone a few days ago.
Look here! Our very own Lotus Batcat is on Hobotopia! That's where Kitteh & Pip hang out. Thanks to Lurkertype for alerting us.
Lotus reads the Laugh-out-loud Cats, and so should you!
What are you most sensitive about?
Inspired by the recent QotD, I wrote a silly little Miao-poem on Prince Tantra's behalf. Ideally, each verse should be accompanied by an illustrative photograph, but Vox photos are so hard to format that I'll skip that part. It's silly, and it's the first poem I've written since 2nd grade (except for hai-kus), but hopefully it will meet with my feisty Fluff-Puff's approval.
Prince Tantra is a sensitive lil’ purr
If things aren't just so, he will wonder
Why no one seems to love him anymore.
He’ll nurse his feelings, which you have made sore,
Thinking, When you walked by my kitty bed,
Why didn’t you stop to pet and kiss my head?
I chose my nap spot just for that reason
So I could collect my toll of pettings.
And why did you take Baby Lotus's side
When you know his antics I can’t abide?
Why did I get my fishies very last
When you served all my brothers their breakfast?
Am I not deserving of daily food,
Or are you deliberately crossing my mood?
Why are your eyes transfixed on the TV
Instead of gazing lovingly at me?
Am I not more beautiful than the show?
You have grown tired of me – say it isn’t so!
Woe! my tail you have
been neglecting
Even though all others are measly string
When compared to its luscious floofiness.
So I say you have been more than remiss
In expressing your love for me. Is it
No wonder that I am compelled to hiss?
Pictured above: One of our kitties from China, and a relative of Ping (I forget how it works out - purrhaps Strawberry was his auntie?) You can tell from Strawberry's fur that she was an outdoor kitty for the most part. Another family took care of Strawberry for a while, but when she was going to have her babies, we took her in.
