I haven't been photographing much lately (except for spidey visitors)... here are a few I took yesterday. I took more today, but it was windy and then it started to rain after less than 10 minutes. I was afraid of lightning, especially since my iPod was in my pocket, and I've been paranoid about lightning + iPods ever since I saw a news story about iPod listeners getting struck by lightning and ending up with horrific injuries. Of course, now that I'm back in my apartment, it's stopped raining. I'm sure that it will start again as soon as I step outside.
I took these photos back at the beginning of October, when I took the flower-snorgling bee photo. I think it was the same bee, different flower. Quite a thirsty bee! You can see her tongue in the first photo.
It has been raining a lot lately. Then after the rain, it becomes uncomfortably muggy. I like rain that cleans and clears, not rain that makes everything soggy and heavy. I like crisp, clear weather. Cool, cold, even freezing. I know I'm in the minority (I recently expressed my annoyance at the warm weather to a friend, who looked at me as though fearing for my sanity). I'm hoping for what I call a proper winter - a winter with ample snow, a continuous deep freeze, and lasting the appropriate length - in other words, not the pathetic two weeks of winter we got at the beginning of March last year in Connecticut. I thought Minnesota was supposed to be dry, not damp and rainy!
In the meantime, I'm enjoying the last of the summer flowers and the first of the autumn leaves. Though, since I'm in a complaining mode, I wish there were more maples around here. And more oaks to help me build up my acorn stash.
Here are so photos I took this morning, before it started raining again.
The name of this flower is on the tip of my tongue...
