Ping ate!
He practically lunged for the can as soon as I opened it. After about 1/4 of a can, he decided it was enough. We gave him a special Purina formula that the vet said is especially appealing to cats. When he was chewing, I noticed an occasional grinding noise. I'm not sure if it's his teeth or his jaw... he noticed it too because he stopped eating and listened before taking another mouthful.
When I brought him back from the vet earlier today (after more sub-Q fluids), he had a little playtime with his turbo toy before taking a nap.
Thank you, peeps, for all of your good wishes for Ping.
Ping has his last day of subcutaneous antibiotics today. He actually likes the injections better than the orals meds, but even so, his appetite hasn't been the greatest for the past few days. He has a teeth-cleaning on Monday morning which will hopefully make him more comfortable. Last night, he wasn't interested in crunchies or treats or gooshy food from a pouch, but when Papa Miao served him part of a can of Evo beef, he ate almost the entire dish. I know high protein food like Evo Innova isn't the best for him (because of borderline kidney issues), but it was all he wanted. He had more of the same can this morning. Now he's napping on my bed, on blue blankie, curled up with Baby Lotus. Tashi and Kemi are also on my bed. Mani is helping me blog, and Merlin is napping in a cardboard box. Prince Puff is napping on my dresser
.Tantra still <3s this spot ---->
Last week, Ping was vomiting a lot so Papa Miao took him to the vet. They did a few tests and everything looked pretty good, except for a urinary bladder infection. It took them a few days to culture it and figure out exactly what bacteria it was, so we didn't get the antibiotics (Ciprofloxacin) until two days ago. Meanwhile, Ping was eating fine and he had stopped vomiting. As soon as we started giving him the antibiotics, however, he started vomiting again. So, tomorrow we're back to the vet, and they'll probably give us antibiotics for subcutaneous injection. They told us to give Ping some liquid children's Benadryl, but he vomited that up almost immediately. His left eye is looking swollen, possibly part of an allergic reaction.
Now Ping is looking for a place to nap. Hopefully he'll eat his dinner later. He had a good appetite this morning, but the Benadryl obviously upset his tummy.
According to our vet records, Ping is a "Domestic Shorthair", color Rust/White. Kemi, whose floofs are certainly no longer than the King's, is a "Domestic Longhair", Black. Something isn't adding up.
Lotus is a Himalayan X, Blue Frost. I would like to revise that to "Lilac Frost", since Lotus has been a lilac-point all his life, and if you don't believe it, just smell his colorpoints.
There's still time to snuggle a floof-ball and nap.
